Using Book Bistro with Pre-Service Teachers and Middle School Students

Abstract

This article describes a collaborative Book Bistro between my pre-service teachers and Kim’s middle school students. First, we will describe how this strategy aligns with scholarship supporting adolescent readers and pre-service teachers. We will then share the logistics and results of our event as well as suggestions for others interested in using this strategy.

  • Dr. Erinn Bentley, Columbus State University

    Dr. Erinn Bentley (bentley_erinn@columbusstate.edu) is the Program Coordinator of English Education at Columbus State. Prior to joining CSU’s Teacher Education Department, she taught secondary-level English in the United States and Japan. Currently, she teaches methods courses, supervises field placements, and facilitates study abroad courses. Dr. Bentley earned a Ph.D. in English education and a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing at Western Michigan University. She earned a B.A. degree in English from Hope College.
